When installing a dishwasher with new flooring, make sure the new flooring material extends all the way under the dishwasher. By having the flooring up all the way under the dishwasher, this will minimize the water that gets trapped under the flooring, which can cause mildew and other problems.

A level floor will allow the water that does leak out of the dishwasher to run into the floor where you can see it and then fix where the leaks head is. The sooner the leak is found the less damage it will do the flooring to your house as well as the dishwasher.

You will also want to cover the floor all the way under the dishwasher. If you cover the floor just to the front of the dishwasher, you might find that you can’t pull out the dishwasher to fix it or have it serviced.
